VIDYA (Variable Index Dynamic Average) is an adaptive moving average created by Tushar Chande. Unlike fixed moving averages, VIDYA uses the Chande Momentum Oscillator (CMO) to dynamically adjust its smoothing factor on every bar. When momentum is high, VIDYA responds faster to catch trends immediately. When momentum is low, it smooths more aggressively to filter out noise. This gives you quick signals during strong directional moves and fewer false signals during consolidation.
All three levels are calculated using ATR (Average True Range) bands around the VIDYA line. The Entry Zone is the VIDYA band where price touches and reverses (default 2x ATR multiplier). The Stop Loss is a wider band (default 3x ATR multiplier) positioned beyond the entry to give trades room to breathe.
