See the trend at a glance, get a signal only when momentum agrees, and have the stop and targets drawn for you.
Momentum Tidebreaker colours the band between a fast and a slow EMA by the trend, and prints three kinds of signal on closed bars: Trend Crosses, RSI Reclaims and Divergences, each one checked against RSI and the EMAs, and the Trend Cross and the Divergence against momentum as well. Every signal comes with an entry, a stop 1.5 ATRs away and two targets, support and resistance are marked from pivots, and a 16-row dashboard reads the market for you. One purchase includes both the .ex4 and the .ex5.
- Decided on closed bars. Once a BUY or SELL marker prints, it stays where it is.
- Measured, not promised: on the 20 MetaTrader 5 charts we captured, 61 to 89 signals per 1,000 bars at the default settings.
- MetaTrader 4 and 5 builds and a PDF manual for each, one-time $47.
Schematic of the rule, not a capture: the EMAs give the trend, a family fires, and the marker prints on the closed bar with the entry at its close, the stop 1.5 ATRs away and targets at 1 and 2.0 times the risk (the defaults). The real charts are further down the page.
Measured on these markets
Runs on
A moving-average cross fires in every chop. An RSI reading on its own says overbought for weeks.
Each of the classic momentum tools answers one question. A 12 and 26 EMA cross tells you the trend may have turned, but it fires just as readily when price is going sideways. RSI tells you how stretched the last 14 bars are, not whether the trend is still behind the move. And neither tells you where you are wrong once you are in.
Momentum Tidebreaker makes them check each other. A Trend Cross needs RSI on the same side of 50, momentum on the same side of zero and the EMAs a meaningful distance apart. An RSI Reclaim needs the trend and the close behind it. A Divergence needs RSI at an extreme while price and momentum disagree. Whichever fires, the entry, a stop 1.5 ATRs away and two targets are on the chart the moment the bar closes, and the band between the EMAs shows the trend you are trading with.
Read the charts, not the promise. Every chart on this page is a real MetaTrader capture of the shipped build at its default settings, and every number in the frequency tables was counted on those charts. Nothing is drawn in by hand. Click any chart to open it full size.
Signals per 1,000 bars on 20 MetaTrader 5 charts, by family and with the momentum check on and off
Signals on the last 1,000 closed bars of each chart. The first table splits them by family at the default inputs; the second shows what switching off Require Momentum Confluence does. These tell you how busy a chart will be, not how many signals work out.

What these tables admit: across all 20 MetaTrader 5 charts the default settings gave, per 1,000 bars, Trend Cross 22 to 49; RSI Reclaim 35 to 66; no Divergence signal, and 61 to 89 signals in all. With the momentum check off the total was 61 to 90. The divergence diamonds, which mark every oversold or overbought bar where momentum and price disagree whether or not a signal follows, came to 13 to 38. At the default levels the Divergence family is the rarest: it fired on none of the 30 charts on this page in their last 1,000 bars, because a close still above the fast EMA while RSI is below 30 seldom happens (and the mirror for sells), so STRONG signals are rare too. Raising Oversold (up to 49) or lowering Overbought (down to 51), from 30 and 70, can only add Divergence signals and diamonds. Fewer signals is not the same as better signals: the tables say how often each family fires, not whether the move that followed was worth taking, and the charts below show both kinds.
30 real MetaTrader charts at default settings
Each one was saved by MetaTrader itself from a chart of the shipped build, with the indicator attached exactly as you would attach it: the two EMAs and the band, the BUY, SELL and STRONG markers and the divergence diamonds, the support and resistance rays, the levels of the newest trade while it is open, and the dashboard. The charts were picked by market and timeframe, not by how the last signal turned out. Click any chart to open it full size.

How these charts were captured. So you can repeat them, not just look at them.
- MetaTrader 5 build 6230 on the Eightcap demo server (Eightcap-Demo) and MetaTrader 4 build 1479 on the Blueberry Markets demo server (BlueberryMarkets-Demo), 22 October 2026. The terminals ran unattended: a helper script opened each chart, attached the shipped indicator with its default inputs, waited until the dashboard, the band and the markers were drawn and had stopped changing, and saved the chart with MetaTrader's own screenshot function. No chart was edited afterwards.
- Both terminals were connected to their servers, so every chart runs up to the moment of capture; each chart's last closed bar is in its caption. The indicator calculated the newest 20,000 bars of each chart (all of them where the chart holds fewer), its default Bars to calculate.
- The dashboard values, the newest signal and the signal counts on this page were computed from each chart's own bars at the moment of capture, by the same engine the indicator runs, and stored next to the screenshot, so every figure traces to a file. On every chart the counts were checked against the markers the chart itself drew. Times are the broker's server time. Forex and gold symbols on the MetaTrader 4 server carry a .i suffix.
- Every value the engine computes was compared with the original design's own output, bar by bar, on both builds: 7,972,521 values per platform, no differences in anything the indicator shows or alerts. The markers, rays, lines, price tags and dashboard text were compared the same way.
A trend band, three signal families and a plan
Three parts, each one visible on the chart or the dashboard, which is what makes a signal easy to check.
The trend band
A 12 and a 26 EMA, and the band between them in the bullish colour while the fast one is above, the bearish colour otherwise. Strength on the dashboard is the gap between them as a percentage of ATR(14); a Trend Cross needs more than 1 percent, so two EMAs lying on top of each other cannot trigger one.
Three families
Trend Cross: the EMAs cross with RSI(14) on the same side of 50 and momentum on the same side of zero. RSI Reclaim: RSI crosses 50 with the trend and the close behind it. Divergence: RSI below 30 while momentum rises and the close falls, still above the fast EMA (mirrored above 70). A Divergence prints as STRONG, and is the rarest of the three at the default levels.
The plan
The signal bar's close is the entry. The stop sits 1.5 ATR(14) away, TP1 at one times that risk and TP2 at 2.0 times, with the risk never below 10 ticks. TP1 is marked on the dashboard and its line dims; TP2 or the stop ends the trade, and the next signal starts a new one. The stop never moves.
Install the file for your platform
Copy the .ex4 into MQL4/Indicators or the .ex5 into MQL5/Indicators, refresh the Navigator and drag Momentum Tidebreaker onto any chart.
Choose your families
All three are on by default. Switch any of them off in the Signals group, or turn off Require Momentum Confluence to let more Trend Crosses through.
Read the dashboard
Trend, Strength, RSI, momentum, ATR, the distance to the nearest support and resistance, and the tracked trade, 16 rows in the top right corner.
Let the alerts call you
9 alert events, all on by default: BUY, SELL, the two STRONG signals, TP1, TP2, the stop and the two divergences, by popup, sound, push to the MetaTrader app or e-mail, on closed bars only.
The market, read for you, and every signal's plan on the chart
A signal you can check is a signal you can judge. The panel reads trend, momentum, volatility and the nearest levels; the lines show where the newest signal is right and where it is wrong.

| Row | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Momentum Tidebreaker / DASHBOARD | The header |
| Trend | BULLISH while the fast EMA is above the slow EMA, BEARISH otherwise |
| Strength | The gap between the two EMAs as a percentage of the Trend Strength ATR |
| RSI | The RSI value with OB above the Overbought level, OS below the Oversold level, Mid between |
| Momentum | The change of the close over 5 bars as a percentage of ATR(10) |
| ATR (14) | The risk ATR in price and in points |
| ATR % of Price | The risk ATR as a percentage of the close |
| Dist to Resistance | Points from the close up to the nearest kept resistance level, or a dash |
| Dist to Support | Points from the close down to the nearest kept support level, or a dash |
| - Active Trade - | Section band |
| Direction | LONG or SHORT for the tracked trade, a dash without one |
| Entry | The tracked trade's entry |
| SL | The stop, with its distance in points |
| TP1 / TP2 | The two targets, marked [TP1 v] once the first is reached |
| Floating P&L | Points and percent from the entry to the current close |
| W / L / WR | Trades that reached TP2, trades that reached the stop, and the first as a share of both, counted on this chart's calculated bars |
About the W / L / WR row. It counts what the drawing did on this chart: W is trades that reached TP2, L is trades that reached the stop (also after TP1), and WR is W as a share of both, over the bars the indicator has calculated (Bars to calculate, 20,000 by default). A trade that a newer signal replaces before TP2 or the stop is not counted at all, and when TP1 and the stop fall in the same bar, TP1 is booked and the trade stays open. There is no spread, commission or slippage in it, and every signal is counted whether or not you would have taken it. It describes the drawing on that history; it is not a trading record, and this page does not quote it.
[TP1 v] next to the targets is a reading of the chart: price traded through TP1 on a closed bar. It is not a filled order. Floating P&L is the distance from the entry to the current close, in points and percent, before any costs.
The same engine, drawn two ways
Both builds run the same engine on the same inputs and produce the same signals, levels, alerts and dashboard values; we checked that value by value. The markers, price tags and the dashboard are drawn the same way on both. What differs is how each platform draws the band and the two EMAs, and MetaTrader has no see-through fill: the band colour is mixed with your chart background at the Fill Transparency you set (80 by default), and redrawn if you change the background. Here is EURUSD H1 on both, each running to the moment of capture.

Three things a momentum indicator should do, done properly
Signals that had to agree
No family fires on one reading alone: each needs RSI and the EMAs to line up in its own way, and two of them momentum as well, so a cross of two EMAs lying on top of each other, or an RSI turn against the trend, stays off your chart.
A plan with every signal
The entry, the stop and two targets are drawn the moment a signal prints, with their prices on the chart, and the dashboard follows the trade until TP2 or the stop. You know where you are wrong before you are in.
Both platforms, one purchase
The .ex4 and the .ex5 come in the same download with a manual for each, so moving between MetaTrader 4 and 5 costs nothing.
Momentum Tidebreaker next to the usual options
Where it wins, and where it does not. A tool that claims to win everywhere is the one to distrust.
| Momentum Tidebreaker | A plain EMA cross | RSI on its own | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Signal stays where it printed | Decided on the closed bar | On the closed bar, if you wait for it | A level, not a signal |
| Checks momentum before it signals | RSI and the EMAs for every family, momentum for two of them | No | RSI only |
| More than one kind of entry | Trend Cross, RSI Reclaim and Divergence | The cross only | You read it yourself |
| Stop and targets drawn for you | Entry, stop and two targets on every signal | No | No |
| Support and resistance marked | Pivot levels as rays, distances on the dashboard | No | No |
| Stop at market structure | No. The stop is 1.5 ATRs from the entry, not a swing high or low | You place it | You place it |
| Follows several trades at once | No. One trade at a time: a new signal replaces the tracked one | No | No |
| Sizes and places the trade | No. You choose the size and place the order | No | No |
Honest about who this fits
A good fit if you
- Want signals that only print when RSI, the EMAs and, for two of the families, momentum line up.
- Want the entry, the stop and two targets drawn for you, and a dashboard that follows the trade.
- Trade forex, gold, stock indices, oil or crypto on MetaTrader 4 or 5, on anything from M15 to H4.
Not for you if you
- Want an Expert Advisor that places trades for you. This is an indicator: it signals, draws and alerts, and you place the orders.
- Want stops at swing highs and lows, or a stop that follows price. This stop is set from ATR and stays where it was drawn.
- Expect a win rate printed on the box. This page shows what the indicator does, not a promise of profit.
37 inputs, each one explained
The names are the ones you see in the MetaTrader inputs dialog. The defaults are what every chart on this page uses.
| Input | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Trend Analysis | ||
| Fast EMA Length | 121 or more | The fast EMA. The trend is Bullish while it is above the slow EMA and Bearish otherwise; there is no flat state. |
| Slow EMA Length | 261 or more | The slow EMA. The band between the two lines takes the trend's colour, and an RSI Reclaim needs the close on the trend's side of this line. |
| Trend Strength Period | 141 or more | The ATR period behind the Strength row: the gap between the two EMAs as a percentage of this ATR. A Trend Cross needs Strength above 1 percent. |
| Support & Resistance | ||
| Pivot Length | 102 or more | How many bars on each side a swing high or low needs before it becomes a resistance or support level. The level appears this many bars after the swing, once those bars have closed. |
| Max S/R Levels | 31 to 5 | How many of the newest resistance and support levels are kept on each side, for the rays and the two distance rows. |
| Show S/R Levels | On | Draws the support and resistance rays. The Dist to Resistance and Dist to Support rows work either way. |
| Momentum | ||
| RSI Length | 141 or more | The RSI period. RSI decides the RSI row and takes part in all three signal families. |
| Oversold Level | 301 to 49 | RSI below this is oversold: the RSI row reads OS and the bullish divergence check is armed. |
| Overbought Level | 7051 to 99 | RSI above this is overbought: the RSI row reads OB and the bearish divergence check is armed. |
| Signals | ||
| Enable Trend Cross Signals | On | Trend Cross signals: the fast EMA crosses the slow EMA with RSI on the same side of 50, Strength above 1 percent and, with the confluence switch on, momentum on the same side of zero. |
| Enable RSI Reclaim Signals | On | RSI Reclaim signals: RSI crosses 50 in the direction of the trend, with the close on the same side of the slow EMA. |
| Enable Divergence Signals | On | Divergence signals: on a closed bar with RSI oversold, momentum rises while the close falls below the previous close, and the close is still above the fast EMA (mirrored at overbought for a sell). Every Divergence signal is also drawn and alerted as STRONG. |
| Require Momentum Confluence (Trend Cross) | On | Trend Cross only: momentum must be above zero for a buy and below zero for a sell. Off lets more crosses through. |
| Risk Management | ||
| Show TP/SL Levels | On | Draws the entry, stop and two target lines with their price tags for the newest signal. The trade is tracked either way, so the trade rows and the TP and SL alerts keep working with it off. |
| ATR Length (Risk) | 141 or more | The ATR period for the stop distance and the ATR rows. |
| SL ATR Multiplier | 1.50.1 or more | The stop distance from the entry, in ATRs. The entry is the signal bar's close. |
| TP2 Risk:Reward | 2.00.5 or more | The second target as a multiple of the risk (the entry-to-stop distance). The first target is always 1R. The risk is never taken as less than 10 ticks. |
| Line Extension (bars) | 305 or more | How many bars the trade lines run to the right of the signal bar. The price tags sit one bar further. |
| Visual Settings | ||
| Bullish Color | #00D4AA | Everything bullish: BUY and STRONG BUY markers, bullish diamonds, the bullish band and EMA colour, the support rays, the target lines and tags, and the bullish dashboard readings. |
| Bearish Color | #FF6B6B | Everything bearish: SELL and STRONG SELL markers, bearish diamonds, the bearish band and EMA colour, the resistance rays, the stop line and tag, and the bearish dashboard readings. |
| Neutral Color | #95A5A6 | Dashboard readings that are neither: Strength at 1 percent or less, ATR % below 0.3, and the trade rows when no trade is tracked. |
| Fill Transparency | 800 to 100 | How see-through the band between the EMAs is: 0 is solid, 100 is invisible. MetaTrader mixes the colour with the chart background. |
| MetaTrader | ||
| Bars to calculate | 200000 or more (0 = all) | How many recent bars are calculated, never fewer than the warm-up plus 500. 0 means the whole history. Earlier bars are left empty, which keeps loading fast; the W / L / WR row counts only this window. |
| Alerts | ||
| Alert: BUY | On | Every BUY signal, whichever family it comes from. |
| Alert: SELL | On | Every SELL signal, whichever family it comes from. |
| Alert: STRONG BUY | On | A STRONG BUY, sent in addition to its BUY alert. |
| Alert: STRONG SELL | On | A STRONG SELL, sent in addition to its SELL alert. |
| Alert: TP1 Hit | On | Price reaching the first target of the tracked trade, once. |
| Alert: TP2 Hit | On | Price reaching the second target, which ends the tracked trade. |
| Alert: SL Hit | On | Price reaching the stop, which ends the tracked trade. |
| Alert: Bullish Divergence | On | Every bullish divergence bar (the small diamond), also those that do not become a signal. |
| Alert: Bearish Divergence | On | Every bearish divergence bar, also those that do not become a signal. |
| Pop-up alert | On | MetaTrader's alert window, with its own sound. |
| Sound | Off | Plays the sound file below on each alert. |
| Sound file | alert.wav | A .wav file in the terminal's Sounds folder. |
| Push notification | Off | Push notification to the MetaTrader app on your phone (set up under Tools, Options, Notifications). |
| Off | E-mail through the terminal's own mail settings (Tools, Options, Email). | |
9 alert events, four ways to hear about them
Every alert is decided on a closed bar, fires once per event for that bar, and never fires for the history the indicator calculates when it loads or in the Strategy Tester. The messages are the original design's, with your symbol and the close at the symbol's own decimals. What the GBPUSD M30 chart above sent for its newest signal, which has reached TP1:
- GBPUSD SELL @ 1.33772 | SL/TP wired on chart
- GBPUSD TP1 hit on active trade — consider partial profit
The STRONG alerts keep the original wording, Trend Cross + Divergence confluence
. What they actually report is a signal on a bar with divergence: a Trend Cross needs RSI above 50 for a buy and an RSI Reclaim needs RSI to cross above 50, while divergence needs RSI below the Oversold level (30, and never above 49), so a STRONG BUY only ever comes from the Divergence family, and every Divergence BUY is one. The same holds for sells at Overbought.
Each event can reach you as a MetaTrader popup, a sound of your choice, a push notification to the MetaTrader app on your phone or an e-mail, with one switch per channel and one switch per event.
- BUY [symbol] BUY @ [close] | SL/TP wired on chart, on by default
- SELL [symbol] SELL @ [close] | SL/TP wired on chart, on by default
- STRONG BUY [symbol] STRONG BUY @ [close] — Trend Cross + Divergence confluence, on by default
- STRONG SELL [symbol] STRONG SELL @ [close] — Trend Cross + Divergence confluence, on by default
- TP1 Hit [symbol] TP1 hit on active trade — consider partial profit, on by default
- TP2 Hit [symbol] TP2 hit — trade closed in profit, on by default
- SL Hit [symbol] SL hit — trade closed at loss, on by default
- Bullish Divergence [symbol] bullish RSI/price divergence detected at oversold, on by default
- Bearish Divergence [symbol] bearish RSI/price divergence detected at overbought, on by default

How it works
Does it repaint?
A signal is decided on a closed bar: once a BUY, SELL or STRONG marker or a divergence diamond has printed, it stays where it is, and every alert fires once for a closed bar. It appears once its bar is complete, which in practice is when the next bar opens. What moves is what is meant to move: the two EMAs, the band and the dashboard on the bar that is still forming, the support and resistance rays, which are redrawn from the newest levels on every bar, and the entry, stop and target lines, which always belong to the newest signal.
What are the three signal families?
A Trend Cross is the 12 EMA crossing the 26 EMA, with RSI(14) on the same side of 50, Strength above 1 percent and, with Require Momentum Confluence on, momentum on the same side of zero. An RSI Reclaim is RSI crossing 50 in the direction of the trend, with the close on the same side of the slow EMA. A Divergence is a bar where RSI is below the Oversold level (30), momentum is rising and the close is below the previous close, while the close is still above the fast EMA; the sell side mirrors it at the Overbought level (70). Each family can be switched off on its own.
What does STRONG mean?
A STRONG BUY is a BUY on a bar where bullish divergence holds: RSI oversold, momentum up, the close down. A Trend Cross needs RSI above 50 for a buy and an RSI Reclaim needs RSI to cross above 50, while oversold can never be set above 49, so a STRONG BUY can only come from the Divergence family, and every Divergence BUY is one; sells mirror it. The STRONG alert keeps the original design's text, Trend Cross + Divergence confluence
, so your alerts match it, but this is what it reports.
What kind of divergence does it look for?
A one-bar disagreement, not a comparison of two swing highs or lows: on a closed bar with RSI oversold, momentum rises while the close falls below the previous close (mirrored at overbought). Every such bar gets a small diamond, whether or not it becomes a signal, and has its own alert. It becomes a Divergence signal only when the close is still above the fast EMA (below it for a sell).
How are the stop and the targets set?
The signal bar's close is the entry. The stop is 1.5 times ATR(14) away from it, TP1 sits at one times that risk and TP2 at 2.0 times, and the risk is never taken as less than 10 ticks. Targets and stop are checked on closed bars, TP2 first, then TP1, then the stop. TP1 is marked on the dashboard and its line dims; TP2 or the stop ends the tracked trade, and every new signal replaces it with its own levels. The stop is never moved.
What are the dashed rays?
Support and resistance from pivots. A high with 10 lower highs on each side becomes a resistance level, a low with 10 higher lows on each side a support level; each appears 10 bars after its swing, once those bars have closed. The newest 3 on each side are kept, drawn as dashed rays from 100 bars back, and used for the two distance rows of the dashboard.
What does the W / L / WR row count?
A count, not a promise. W is trades that reached TP2, L is trades that reached the stop, including after TP1, and WR is W as a share of both, for every signal the indicator drew on this chart since its first calculated bar. A trade replaced by a newer signal before TP2 or the stop is not counted, and there is no spread, commission or slippage in it. It describes the drawing on that history, and we do not quote it anywhere on this page.
What does Require Momentum Confluence change?
Only Trend Crosses: with it on, a cross also needs momentum, the 5-bar change of the close measured in ATRs, on its side of zero. On the 20 MetaTrader 5 charts we measured, switching it off took the signals per 1,000 bars from 61 to 89 at the default to 61 to 90. Start with it on, then decide whether you want the extra crosses.
The proof
Are the charts on this page real?
Yes. Each one was saved by MetaTrader itself on 22 October 2026, with the shipped indicator attached at its default inputs, and none was edited. Both terminals were connected, so every chart runs to the moment of capture. The dashboard values and signal counts printed next to them were computed from the same charts' bars at the same moment, by the same engine.
Do you publish a win rate?
No, on purpose. Any single number depends on the market, the timeframe, the period, the settings and on how you manage the trade, so it would flatter some charts and hide others. The frequency tables tell you how often it fires and the charts show signals that reached their targets and signals that hit the stop. Test it on a demo account on your own markets before you trade it.
How do I know the MetaTrader version calculates what it should?
Every value the engine computes was compared with the original design's own output, bar by bar, on both builds: 7,972,521 values per platform, with no differences in anything the indicator shows or alerts, and the markers, rays, lines, tags and dashboard text were compared the same way. On the charts on this page, the signals each chart drew were also recounted independently and matched on all 30 charts.
Does it work on gold, indices and crypto?
Yes. It reads price only, open, high, low and close, so it runs on any symbol your broker quotes. We captured it on 16 markets across forex, metals, stock indices, oil and crypto, from M15 to H4. Distances on the dashboard are in points of the symbol.
Using it
MetaTrader 4 or 5: which should I use?
Whichever your broker offers; the signals, levels and dashboard values are the same. MetaTrader 5 draws a filled band; MetaTrader 4 draws it with histogram bars. Both builds are in the download.
Which timeframes work best?
Every chart on this page was taken between M15 and H4, and the indicator reads only the chart it is on, so it behaves the same way on any of them. Higher timeframes give fewer, slower signals and wider stops; lower ones more and tighter. Watch it on a demo chart of the timeframe you trade before you rely on it.
The chart is busy. What can I turn off?
Show S/R Levels removes the rays, Show TP/SL Levels removes the trade lines and tags (the trade is still tracked on the dashboard and in the alerts), and Fill Transparency at 100 hides the band. Switching a family off in the Signals group removes its signals completely.
Can I run it on several charts?
Yes. Each chart runs its own copy with its own dashboard, levels and alerts, and every alert names its symbol. Two copies on the same chart, with different settings, keep their drawings apart.
Will it trade for me?
No. It is an indicator, not an Expert Advisor: it signals, draws the band and the levels, shows the dashboard and raises the alerts. You place and manage the orders, with whatever position size and risk your account allows.
