About Dominic Walsh — Founder of Forexobroker

I’m Dominic Walsh, a UK-based forex trader and the founder of forexobroker.com. I started trading forex in 2014 and started writing about it the same year — partly to keep myself accountable, partly because there was very little honest, methodology-first writing on the retail side of the market at the time. The site has since grown to over 40,000 monthly readers, and every indicator, expert advisor and tutorial published here is something I’ve built, tested or used in my own trading.

How I trade

My core methodology is technical analysis combined with multi-timeframe trend confirmation. In plain English: I read price action on a higher timeframe, confirm the bias with a small set of indicators I’ve refined over the years, and only execute when the structure on a lower timeframe agrees. I trade EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, AUDUSD and gold (XAUUSD) on the 1-hour, 4-hour and daily charts. I do not scalp the 1-minute, I do not chase news spikes, and I do not run signal services.

The methodology is rooted in the same trend-following principles that — as research from Investopedia’s overview of forex strategies and the educational material at Babypips on trend-following make clear — have driven a large share of institutional and retail returns over decades. I’m not reinventing the wheel; I’m applying it consistently and writing about the parts that other educators skip.

Why forexobroker.com exists

The first 18 months of my own trading were a slow, expensive lesson that most forex content online is either dressed-up affiliate marketing or recycled noise. The blogs were promoting brokers without disclosure. The YouTube channels were selling signals based on hindsight charts. The free indicators were either broken or designed to push you into a paid upgrade. I built this site to be the resource I wished I had at the start: indicators and EAs that are genuinely free, tutorials that show the methodology behind the tool, and zero pressure to buy anything.

That’s also why this site is broker-neutral. I don’t recommend a single broker or tell readers where to open an account — broker regulation, withdrawal terms and pair spreads vary by jurisdiction, and getting that wrong can cost a trader far more than picking the wrong indicator. For any reader asking, I point them at the official regulator directories: the FCA Register in the UK, ASIC in Australia, or the CFTC’s registered firms list in the US. Your jurisdiction, your due diligence.

What I publish on the site

  • Free MT4 and MT5 indicators — trend, oscillator, volume, and support/resistance tools. Each comes with an article explaining the methodology, install steps and recommended settings. Start with the FX Golden Trend Indicator.
  • Expert Advisor (EA) reviews and code walk-throughs — both free and paid EAs, with honest assessment of what they do and when they fail.
  • Platform tutorials — install guides, VPS setup, MT4 vs MT5 comparisons, and the unglamorous workflow stuff that nobody else covers properly.
  • Strategy articles — multi-timeframe trend confirmation, trade management, risk sizing, and post-trade journaling.

What you won’t find here

  • Signal services or copy-trade products. If someone is messaging you on Telegram claiming to be me and offering signals, it is not me. Report and block.
  • Get-rich claims or guaranteed win rates. Trading is a probability business. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
  • Hidden affiliate links inside “reviews”. Where I link to a third-party product or platform, I say so up-front in the article.

The best way to ask a question, report a bug in a free indicator, or pitch a collaboration is email: [email protected]. Full guidelines and the social channels I’m active on are on the Contact page. If you want the deeper material that doesn’t go on the public blog — private indicators, settings sheets, early access to new tools — the newsletter is the way in.
